My German (women) Ancestors

My paternal grandmother, Alwinnea, had this portrait taken in a Portland Oregon photography studio.

My German (women) Ancestors - Photos taken between 1900 -1963. My paternal great-grandmother immigrated through Ellis Island in New York in the late 1800’s from Germany - leaving family behind who continued to correspond with her from across the Atlantic. News of weddings, births, deaths, celebrations of birthdays, photographs etc. were exchanged from the 1890’a until mutual relations were dimmed by deaths @ 1980 or so. My grandmother, at thirteen years of age, was accompanied her mother on the steamship carrying them across the Atlantic. She passed away in Nicolaus, CA in 1917 due to the Spanish Flu epidemic prevalent at that time. More photographs of these women from both sides of the ocean posted to my photo section….
